How about a journey back in time today?

Our middle school took such a journey through time on June 5th. On their excursion to Neuthal near Bäretswil, the children were able to immerse themselves in the factory world of the 19th century for a day. During the tour through the halls of the textile factory, they experienced the loud rattling of the mechanical looms and spinning wheels up close and got an impression of the harsh conditions under which many children had to earn their living at that time. They were particularly impressed by the workshops in which they were able to get their hands dirty. In addition to spinning and weaving on the hand loom, they also practiced carding, a technique that most of them had not known before. After their work was done, they enjoyed picnicking and refreshment in the nearby stream with double pleasure. The excursion ended with a hike to Bauma on the trail of the Gujer-Zeller industrial trail.
